Pierre Soulages (* 1919) is one of the most important surviving representatives of abstract painting after 1945. The hallmark of the Frenchman is the color black and the reflection of light. Soulages and his art alone are the sole protagonists of the film. On the basis of 80 specially selected works, the exceptional artist tells about his life, his development and gives an insight into the philosophy and aesthetics of his poetic work.
