Michael Nyman - In Concert

Which film fan is not familiar with the rousing music of Michael Nyman? Be it the Oscar-nominated score for Jane Campion's masterpiece “The Piano” or the furious compositions for Peter Greenaway's films. Born in London in 1944, Nyman is undoubtedly one of the great contemporary composers. In the live concert recording presented here, made in a studio in the city of Halle on the Saale, the maestro himself sits at the grand piano. In addition to film music classics such as “Chasing Sheep is Best Left to Shepherds” from “The Contract of the Draughtsman”, the German premiere of Nyman's composition “The Musicologist Scores” can also be experienced, in which Nyman intensively explores the work of Georg Friedrich Handel. So what could have been more fitting than to perform the piece in Handel's native city of Halle?
