The fabulous world of Amélie... pardon, of Iréne consists of wealthy men in luxurious hotel suites who have their money literally pulled out of their pockets by the charming young woman (“Amélie” star Audrey Tautou). Everything is running like clockwork when one evening Iréne mistakes the hotel waiter Jean (Gad Elmaleh) for a rich hotel guest and spends a night with him.
When they meet again a year later, the bartender, who is as in love as he is penniless, tries to keep the femme fatale until the money runs dry and Irène runs away again. Jean, torn out of his everyday lethargy, travels after Irène to Nice and, in need of money, begins to rob a rich millionaire's widow of her savings - and turns from an admirer into a veritable competitor for Irène...
“Hors de Prix” thrives on the great chemistry of its two leading actors on amorous detours before their characters can really turn to each other. The scenes of their immoral activities are set in the niche, barely affordable hotels, restaurants and boutiques on the summery Côte d'Azur. This amusing comedy is like a modern French version of the classic “Breakfast at Tiffany's ” - elegantly staged, sensitive and romantic at the same time.
