Actually, coca is just a plant. But the cocaine extracted from the coca leaves is the reason for an ongoing war with countless dead. The film goes where the conflict over the green bush and the white powder rages the bloodiest - to Colombia. He shows farmers, paramilitaries, guerrillas and dealers and impressively describes how a country was and is dominated by a drug war, while the narcotic serves as a party kick elsewhere. And he shows the Yanacuna Indians in San Agustín, for whom coca is an essential part of their natural religion. For them, a ban on cultivation would be tantamount to the loss of their spirituality.
