The Paper Bridge (German ov w. Engl. subs)

Ruth Beckermann's journey through her own family history tells both the story of Central European Jews and the history of a region. The journey takes her from Vienna, where her grandmother survived the war as a submarine by pretending to be mute, and where her mother returned from Israel, to the landscape of Eastern Europe, which bears witness to the persecution and extermination of the Jews.
