"Anfangszeiten" was created in cooperation with the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, where Wolfgang Ramsbott, head of the LCB's film department, taught: an absurd story about five cyclists who race through the city as rolling cinema advertisements. Each of them has a piece of a huge movie advertisement attached to their bike. Christian Bau (born 1942) studied at the University of Fine Arts (HfBK) in Hamburg in the first film class in the Federal Republic of Germany, which was led by Wolfgang Ramsbott in 1965. After graduating in 1969, he worked with Robert van Ackeren and Werner Nekes, among others, and was one of the pioneers of "Other Cinema". In 1980, he and other documentary filmmakers founded the film cooperative "die thede" in Hamburg-Altona, where he has been making his documentaries ever since. As a producer, he also supervises external film projects. 1999 Foundation of "thede filmproduktion". His film "Maschinensturm" about the conflict between man and machine was awarded the German Film Critics' Prize in 1987.
