In 1903, the scientist Marie Curie was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Physics together with her husband Pierre. Only a short time later, in her mid-thirties and as a young mother of two children, she lost Pierre in a tragic accident. Nevertheless, she continued on her path unwaveringly, continued her joint research alone in a world dominated by men and was the first woman to be awarded a chair at the Sorbonne in Paris. When, after a long period of mourning for her beloved husband, she falls in love with the married scientist Paul Langevin and embarks on an affair with him, she triggers a major scandal. Just as she is about to be awarded the second Nobel Prize and the venerable Académie des Sciences is discussing Marie Curie's admission to its circle, the Parisian press publicly accuses her of adultery at the instigation of Paul's vengeful wife.
