A Marriage Story

A lot happens during the 35 years of a couple's cohabitation: from moments of absolute understanding to dramatic downfalls. Most of the time, however, the partners are dealing with the familiar everyday worries and joys of raising children, running a household or running a business. This is exactly the life of the owners of the furniture shop Ivana and Václav Strnad, whom director Helena Třeštíková has been following with her camera since 1980 as part of the project The Marriage Story. Her new feature-length documentary about the Strnad family builds on the television films of this series, but above all shows the surprising twists and turns that the lives of the couple and their children have taken.
