1 p.m. in Jerusalem. For Muslims in Jerusalem, it is time for the midday prayer. The faithful are supposed to touch the ground with their toes, knees, palms and foreheads as they perform their prayer. On the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem's Old City, Christian pilgrims follow the Passion of their Savior. Using small vehicles that fit through the narrow streets of the Old City, Palestinian workers dispose of the garbage left behind by tourists, merchants and residents. Clashes between demonstrators and Israeli border guards occur repeatedly in Palestinian camps near the wall around Jerusalem. At the time of filming in April 2013, this was the case south of Jerusalem, near Bethlehem. Bethlehem, which is sacred to Christians as the birthplace of Jesus, is located in the West Bank, but the wall around Jerusalem, which in several places extends further than the actual Jerusalem city limits, reaches right up to Bethlehem.
