China is a country of superlatives: No other state has so many people, no other country is growing so quickly and dynamically. The living space of all of New York City is built in China every year, major cities are being built in record time. On the other hand, China's ancient traditions are still alive today. Besides megacities with extreme population density, half of the country is almost uninhabited: gigantic deserts, high mountains and spectacular karst landscapes characterize a unique topography. - For this major international co-production by NDR with partners in China, Singapore and New Zealand, the giant empire of China was explored from the air for the first time using Cineflex helicopters and flying drones. This way, unique HD images from a bird's eye view of a country in constant upheaval were achieved! "China from above" shows the enormous challenges of mass logistics, from the most modern superfast train network in the world to spectacular power lines over all obstacles of nature, from mass indoor swimming pools for tens of thousands to the largest water festival in the world - everything is highest, fastest, longest. Superlatives whose dimensions and scale can only be grasped at all "from above"...
