Book adaptation/Crime, United Kingdom 1982

Ever since Sir Hugo Baskerville caused the death of a young girl around 150 years ago, a curse has weighed on his family. Since then, the moorland near Baskerville Hall has been haunted by a sinister hound to which the male descendants of the Baskervilles fall victim. When the current head of the family, Sir Charles Baskerville, is found dead one day, his nephew Henry also fears for his life. To put a stop to the superstition, Mortimer, the executor of the will, calls in the famous master detective Sherlock Holmes to take on the case. This four-part mini-series sticks closely to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous original. At most, some plot elements have been stretched to give the four parts equal weight. At the time, the BBC series was dubbed for GDR television - it was not shown on West German television. The last broadcast was over 30 years ago. Episode 01 of the four-part mini-series with Tom Baker as Sherlock Holmes.
