The Peppercorns

It is Christmas Eve. Mary, a black girl, is being pursued by a people smuggler called Jürgen and takes refuge in the Overbeck office. The Pfefferkörner urgently need a safe place for the frightened girl. They find sanctuary with Pastor Götze at St. Catherine's Church. But Jürgen anonymously informs the police. They are obliged to take illegal immigrants into custody and, if necessary, deport them. Mary would end up back in Sudan in the middle of the civil war without her parents...
