The Peppercorns

Eleven-year-old Lilly's start in her new home of Hamburg couldn't be worse: on her very first day at school, she is doused with water by her classmates. And then her dog Feline is stolen from the school toilet by two computer thieves who want to keep the dog as leverage to prevent Lilly from telling the police. It's a good thing that she quickly finds friends who want to help her. Laurenz, Lilly's father's godson, his eight-year-old sister Marie and fellow students Yeliz and Karol are eager to free the dog and bring the computer thieves to justice. But when Karol and Yeliz disagree on how best to solve the case, the boys and girls go their separate ways. Lilly, Yeliz and Marie try to find out where the dog is hidden by bugging the apartment of one of the computer thieves. Karol and Laurenz want to steal a valuable koi carp from the computer thief's parents' shop in order to have something to bargain with. Neither of these ventures goes as planned, but they each receive a crucial clue to the whereabouts of Lilly's dog: the container storage area in the Port of Hamburg. But Karol and Laurenz's rescue mission goes horribly wrong. The computer thieves lock them in a container and Laurenz's life is in danger because he loses his asthma inhaler.
