Shortly after 9 p.m., the master of the keys to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher knocks impatiently on the door. Anyone who still wants to get out of here must now leave. Those who do not answer the knock must stay in the church - until the next morning at 5 o'clock. But why have two Muslim families shared the key power over the church for over 800 years? A paramedic begins his shift in an ambulance belonging to Magen David Adom - a rescue society analogous to the Red Cross or Red Crescent. Magen David Adom means Red Shield of David. In 2006, after long negotiations, this Israeli national aid society was recognized as a partner by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
